Branding.  There is a plethora of content on the web about how to do it, who to hire and what it should look like.  With this time of transition I have delved into my own branding and have really discovered what my brand and branding looked like in a tangible way.  I have read article after article on what branding means as a photographer and even wrote this post on clients investing on you ,and you being your brand.

Branding mood board tips from a DIYer | Brittney Livingston Photography

I want to share with you the end result of my branding moldboard and brand board.  As many of you know I am a total DIYer.  If I can do it, i generally will as opposed to outsourcing.  With this whole process I felt the need to have something tangible that I could reference if I ever felt like I was straying from my brand aesthetic.  Enter, my branding mood board.  I had seen mood boards all over Pinterest and read this post from Krista Jones on The Rising Tide Society’s blog on creating a Brand Aesthetic board on Pinterest.  After creating this secret board on Pinterest I felt like I needed to be able to collage them all into one image, so I looked up templates for Photoshop that I could use to make my own branding mood board.  Here is the final result:

As you can tell the colors that I gravitate to are blush’s, smokey blue’s and gray’s.

I then decided that I needed to take this branding mood board and create a brand board out of it.  I wanted it to include my main logo as well as my two alternative logos, typography, the color swatches I had chosen from my branding mood board and my design elements.  I looked at a couple examples from Graphic Designers on Pinterest and back to Photoshop I went.  I simply created a blank image and began inserting my elements.  It was rather easy to put all my branding pieces together! Here is the finished product:

As you can see I have everything in one place now and creating my own branding mood board and brand board were rather simple.  I suggest anyone who is rebranding to either create one themselves or hire someone to create a branding mood board and brand board for them.  I would love to answer any questions anyone has so feel free to drop a line!
