As I look forward to being back in Beaufort, South Carolina in a week to photograph a very special Retirement Ceremony, I can’t help but look back and reminisce on all of the military events I was so blessed to photograph. I love being a military photographer. I have been able to capture some of the biggest moments in peoples lives and careers. 11 Homecomings, 1 Bronze Star Award, 3 Final Flights, 1 Marine Corps Retirement, 1 Naval Commissioning and 1 Marine Corps Squadron Change of Command- 18 in total.
Sometimes I have to pinch myself to believe that I was able to be there, not just to witness these moments but to be able to document them for these families forever. I have to admit, photographing a Homecoming the day after your husband deploys is not the easiest, especially at 10PM in the rain, but those images are some of my favorite! Its the moments I get to watch kids run up to their dads after not having seen them in months and seeing the culmination of a career well served that makes being a military photographer so amazing.
Oh I can’t even imagine! What a precious gift to these families.
It truly has been such an amazing experience and no two events are ever the same!
What a special thing to be able to give to a family!!
Thank you so much for documenting these special moments! I know they must mean a lot to the families of the service people.
This is incredible. I’m sure everyone is extremely appreciative that you could capture these moments
Wow. Just stunning and so amazing. I have family in the military and these truly are moments that cannot go undocumented. Good work!
As a former military wife, I know how cherished these photos are! Keep up the good work! =]
