So a lot of people wonder what is actually in a photographer’s camera bag. What camera body, lenses, flash and accessories we carry on a day to day basis. This post is dedicated to what I have on hand at any given moment, my go-to lenses and those that I bring when I know I will need a certain shot or angle. So lets get started, here is what is inside my camera bag!
Camera Body:
Right now my camera body of choice is my Nikon D7100. I love this camera so much. I recently upgraded from the D5100 and am so happy I chose to do so. I have a significantly higher pixel number and it handles amazingly in low-light situations.
Side note: I didn’t just throw out my old D5100, it is not my back-up body just in case of an emergency.
Lenses:
Nikon 24-70mm 2.8 ED, this lens has really been my go-to lens of choice since I purchased it not too long ago. It allows me to get a wide angle shot but also zoom in a bit to get a close up if I so desire. It has come in particularly handy for indoor ceremonies like the Mangasarian Naval Retirement.
Nikon 35mm 1.8, this lens is great for portrait sessions when I want to create a nice soft background. However, with this being a prime lens, if I want a different angle (closer or wider) I have to move.
Nikon 70-300mm 4.5-5.6 ED, this lens is my go to for Homecoming sessions. I know I will be able to capture the jet fly-over and any moments leading up to the initial reunion if I am unable to get close. This lens is also great for outdoor ceremonies when I cannot be in the middle of whatever is going on but where I still want to get a tight shot!
Speedlight:
Nikon SB-700, before having this speedlight I was using a different brand and it just wasn’t working for me. The movability and the different directions I can adjust my flash with this speedlight make it so much more valuable to me!
Camera Bag:
Jo Totes Missy Mint, I love the versatility of this bag and how many storage compartments it has. I love the color too!
Accessories:
