Lieutenant Commander Mangasarian | United States Navy Retirement | Maryland Military Photographer

August 24, 2015

Lieutenant Commander Seth Mangasarian has spent the last 21 years serving and defending his country as a member of the United States Navy. He has seen many deployments and long tiring hours away from his family. On August 7, 2015 we celebrated his Retirement after a wonderful career. I normally do not get choked up during my Military Sessions and I’m not sure what did it this time but I was bawling while Seth was giving his speech.  His kind words to so many of his loved ones and friends, including myself make me even more thankful to be there.

I met this family through our church Homegroup when we lived in Beaufort, SC and we all quickly became friends. Seth and Misty are the type of people who would give the shirt off their back to help someone in need and have become some of our closest and dearest friends. I was so honored when Misty asked me to photograph this very special day for their family and I would not have missed it for the world, after all it was a chance for me to go back to Beaufort for a long weekend!

I shoot weddings and I cry all the time at them. I would cry at every military session as well. I have a soft spot for the military is a very tough task to be away from your family and for a family to so selfishly sacrifice a love for the freedom of others. I could go on and on for days, but I love this. I love what you offer, and it is beautiful to see. Thank you.

What a amazing experience to be a part of! Love the shots of the soldiers at attention (with the flags) and also saluting him as he leaves! So cool!

  10. […] Nikon 24-70mm 2.8 ED, this lens has really been my go-to lens of choice since I purchased it not too long ago.  It allows me to get a wide angle shot but also zoom in a bit to get a close up if I so desire.  It has come in particularly handy for indoor ceremonies like the Mangasarian Naval Retirement.
