Independence Day.  The day our country officially came to be.  I feel so blessed to be in Williamsburg, Virginia this summer and be able to experience all the history that places like Colonial Williamsburg has to offer.  Colonial Williamsburg is a pretty amazing place, you can feel the history when you are walking down the streets so naturally I wanted to take advantage of this opportunity I have this summer and take some Independence Day photos of the boys there.  I had great plans of blending the old or Colonial Williamsburg with the newness of my little munchkins but that was derailed at the sight of livestock… yes I said it, livestock!

My kids LOVE animals, and by love I mean I think O has a slight obsession.  Colonial Williamsburg has so many adorable pastures.  They have horses and cows and sheep, all with these pretty awesome rustic fences that look like they have been there for centuries, and probably have!

My plans of adorable photos in gardens and along old brick walls turned into their backs and profiles… and livestock.  The horses were very curious as to what exactly I was trying to accomplish, and admittedly I was too, so I had to capture the photo bomb they gave us.

I was able to get a couple good photos, its easier to bribe a three year old than it is an eighteen month old, but for the most part it was livestock-1, mom-0.

Happy Belated Independence Day!
