Amanda and Simon’s Washington DC wedding was one for the books! I absolutely loved everything about this couple and their day. From their intimate church wedding to their very cool, industrial space reception at the National Union Building, their Washington DC wedding was so much fun! Their choice of colors for the day, merlot, black & white were such a beautiful compliment to not only their reception space but the city as well.
Amanda and her family are from my home town, Grand Rapids Michigan, and throughout their day we found that we had so many things in common! Their choice to have a Washington DC Wedding was an easy one, because her brother owns the National Union Building, it was an easy choice for their reception! They have family that goes to the church they were married at and it was a “central” place for both of their families to travel too.
Their wedding ceremony was different than any I have had the privilege of photographing before. In the brides words ” We are doing a less than traditional procession wherein the bride and her bridesmaids process before the groomsmen and the groom. The groom is the last one to enter in order to symbolize that the Church is awaiting her bridegroom, Jesus Christ, who is worthy of the highest honor. The bridesmaids are carrying lanterns instead of flowers, mimicking Jesus’s Parable of the Ten Virgins.” It was so sweet to watch Amanda’s face as Simon walked down the aisle to greet her!
Their wedding day was so wonderful, although a scorcher, and I hope that they will cherish these images forever!
