My “Why” | Maryland Wedding and Portrait Photographer

December 15, 2015

Has anyone ever asked you why you do what you do? Why you chose the occupation you did or why you do certain things a certain way? I was recently asked and I decided before I responded that I would really think about it so that I could give a completely 100% honest answer. Why? Why have I chosen to not only be a wife, a mother, a nurse, AND a photographer?

After a lot of thinking and a bit of soul searching I finally came to the best and most accurate reason. I have chosen to not only be a wife and a mom to my two amazing boys but to have a dual career in both nursing and photography because I absolutely love all of those things.

I love being a wife and I have, hands down, the most amazing, giving, selfless, strong and caring husband on this planet. I also love being a mother. Don’t get me wrong, being a boy-mom is not always easy, in fact I would probably say it is generally NOT easy at all. I am not only their mom and friend, I am their cook (most days), their maid, chauffeur, their nurse and their human jungle gym. There are many days when I am at my wits end that one of them come up to me and gives me a big hug and kiss and just wants to cuddle in my lap. That right there, makes it all worth it!

I do it for them, they are my “why”. The three most amazing guys to have ever come into my life. I want to show my kids that not only can you be a well educated and formally trained nurse, or whatever profession you choose, that you can also pick up another passion and make a dual career out of it. I want them to look back one day and say that their mom was driven and determined and passionate about her work but that I did it for them to show them how to be productive individuals who know the meaning of hard work. I want my kids to know me not only as the mom who was there when they got hurt but the mom who was there when someone else got hurt. Not just the mom who captured their memories for us to look back on but the mom who captured others’ memories for them to look back on.
