2016.  What a year!

I cannot believe that we are now officially into 2017 and I am working on my last wedding from 2016 (a NYE wedding!)  Part of me feels like 2016 flew by and the other part of me feels like, at least in the thick of it, that it lasted FOREVER!!

Every year I like to post a Year in Review to look back on the previous year and reflect on how much I accomplished both personally and professionally here at BLP.  2016 was quite the year for our family as we welcomed another beautiful baby boy into our hearts and home!

Just a few days into 2016 I found out I was pregnant and due at the start of the busy fall wedding season.  Two things crossed my mind immediately: 1- “holy cow I’m pregnant again!” and 2- “I guess my fall season will be a little slower, business wise at least.”  With the addition of our little Gus, I tool off a good 6 weeks before jumping back into wedding season and had a lighter season than most.  I am so very thankful that I was able to spend the precious first weeks just focusing on our family!

2016 also saw the last of my nursing theory courses! Many of you may not know but I am also a nurse and have been since 2010! I decided to go back to school to further my education and nursing career a couple years ago with the intention in being done in one year.  Well, one deployment , two babies, and three states later and I am finally done with all my course work and am awaiting my clinical test date, which should be sometime this coming summer!

Business-wise I backed off on shooting primarily families a little more and really focused my business on weddings and couples.  Here are the stats for 2016: 9 Weddings under Brittney Livingston Photography, 9 weddings second shot for photographer friends and 18 portrait sessions.  My goal this year, being it was my first full year in Maryland was to book 6 weddings, so booking 9 was awesome for me.  I also had to turn down 6 weddings because they fell during the time I was going to be on maternity leave.

Looking ahead for 2017, I surpassed my goal wedding bookings before the new year! (I actually more than doubled what my goal was!!) I will also be taking a maximum of 18-20 weddings for the year.  While that may not seem like a ton, I still have a family consisting of three young boys and a husband who need my attention. As well as a HUGE clinical final to be prepared for.  I am very excited for this new year and eager to see what it brings!  During this down time before spring wedding season starts, I will be focusing on my family and school, and soaking up as much time with my littles as I can!
